One of the oldest and most celebrated fraternities in the nation, Phi Kappa Sigma was founded in 1850 at the University of Pennsylvania by Dr. Samuel Brown Wylie Mitchell. The Alpha Kappa chapter was chartered at the University of Alabama on January 24, 1903, and remained on campus for nearly one hundred years. After a ten year absence, the Alpha Kappa chapter was re-chartered at the Capstone on November 4, 2007.

 CHAPTER NEWS

-       Alpha Kappa was recently honored at President Witt’s awards banquet as the chapter received the 2008-2009 Phi Kappa Sigma National Recruitment Award.

-       Also, the chapter hosted an event for Homecoming honoring “National Phi Kap Man of the Year” Governor, and Alpha Kappa alumnus, Bob Riley.  The event was October 17 at Alumni Hall.
